A very touching book that gets you thinking.
Would you travel through time if the present doesn't change?
The genre of literary re-telling may have gotten a bit out of hand in recent years, but here's a beautiful, daring and unapologetic exception that forces its reader to view Huck's adventures for what they were from the runaway slave Jim's perspective: Episodes of sheer terror, where mortal danger lurks in the smallest things, like a wrong turn of phrase.
A powerful and important book!
Revisit the beloved characters from 'Brooklyn' 20 years after the end of that novel.
Eilis' quiet family life is disturbed by the arrival of a stranger that has news for her that derail her seemingly idyllic suburbian existence. Going back to Ireland seems to be the thing to do, but is she ready for what awaits her there after having been gone for 2 decades?
One of my favorite books and an absolute must-read!
This much lauded debut is at times ponderous, at times highly entertaining. It is part psychological thriller, part chronicle of a debauched, wasted youth.

A group of smart, eccentric misfits at an elite New England college discover a way of thinking and living that is far removed from their modern day surroundings under the influence of a charismatic classics professor.

When they cross the border of normal morality, they go from obsession to corruption, betrayal, and eventually to evil...

Amazing!
A wonderfully honest and realistic story about life and love.
From the very first page I was completely gripped by Rebecca Kuang´s latest novel which I would describe as psychological horror .
Yellowface is a dark story about the brutal publishing industry, about cultural appropriation and about loneliness. Almost all of the characters are unlikeable, but in this case, it did not bother me at all. I love narratives in which the narrator messes with the mind of the reader.
Rebecca Kuang knows how to write books that you just want to finish in one sitting!
Absolutely brilliant!
A thoughtprovoking novel about missed opportunities, friendship and the love for video games.
I loved reading the details behind creating a game and the gaming industry as I was introduced to a whole new world.
This is a book that is going to stay with me for a long time.
Torn families, forbidden love, outstanding loyalty - truly adventurous!
A wonderfully crafted and beautifully written story about a civil war that has more or less faded in the fogs of history.
The Island of Missing Trees is about generational trauma, conflict, migration, and - of course - love. The way nature is woven into the story is just superb!
In many ways an eye-opening and touching novel.
This book was my happy place for a couple of hours :)

The coziest heartwarming read about an orc who quits being a mercenary and opens her own coffeeshop.
Legends and Lattes is truly a feel-good fantasy novel at its finest.
Such a wholesome book. <3
During the course of the story, the anonymous narrator finds three photographs and three notebooks written by Oba Yozo, which trace his decline from a student to a morphine addict.

Throughout the book, he tells the story of his moral, physical, and emotional degradation as well as his descent into the shady world of crime, suicides, prostitutes, alcohol, and morphine. In his writing, Yozo shares all the thoughts, fears, and ideas he hides from the world behind a "clownish mask" of cheeriness and wittiness.

He is deeply alienated from everyone around him, and his daily existence is plagued by the feelings of not belonging, not being able to show others his real self, and not being able to discover his true self, for himself.

"Something impure, dark, reeking of the shady character always hovers above me."
We have entered into a tunnel and there is no going back, she says, we just need to keep going and going until we reach the light on the other side.

Light - there is so little of it in Prophet Song´. Darkness looms over these pages; it is an omnipresent theme from the very first paragraph on. This is an absolutely terrifying novel. I am going to be thinking about Prophet Song´ for a long time.
Ishiguro is back and has done it again. A brilliant novel about AI, the sun and what it means to be human.
Groffs language reflects the knowledge and experience of an early American settler incredibl well:
Oh, how I love truly well-researched historical fiction that comes over this effortless! The plot reveals the mystery of the protagonists stroy and predicament in little morsels of information: Great read!!
A story with a huge crescendo!
I immensly enjoyed reading this beautifully written feel-good-novel about Marcellus, the octopus and Tova, his best friend.
In my opinion this book should have won the Booker Prize. A masterpiece in modern storytelling!
If you love romance novels and would like to get into fantasy, this books is for you!

This is a book that is going to stay with me for a long time.
This book left me stunned.
The bell jar is a very touching story of a young woman who's figuring out her future.
Each character is unique and is described in such wonderful detail so it's impossible not to create the most fantastic mental cinema!
This book makes its readers smile and reflect and it makes one thing clear above all: no matter what or how you are, you are worth being loved!
a total feel-good book!
A magical tale of fairy folklore in the cold expanses of Scandinavia, told through the diary of an academic.
Cozy fantasy with a cute lovestory.
This book was absolutely amazing. I had so much different feelings while reading it - I almost couldn't put it away anymore.
I can't wait to start the 2nd volume!
Even though I did like this book, it was not quite what I have expected it to be. The cover and the title imply that this is a retelling of the Medusa myth - and it is, but not only; instead, the novel focuses on a range of female characters who are wronged by mortal men and the gods.
All in all, I think anyone who is interested in Greek mythology will enjoy this book. (And it might be helpful to have some knowledge of Greek mythology to not get lost in the story, since it is told from different perspectives).
