An interesting insight into the life of someone struggeling with depression and anxiety. A very personal & eye-opening book.
One of my favorite books and an absolute must-read!
Revisit the beloved characters from 'Brooklyn' 20 years after the end of that novel.
Eilis' quiet family life is disturbed by the arrival of a stranger that has news for her that derail her seemingly idyllic suburbian existence. Going back to Ireland seems to be the thing to do, but is she ready for what awaits her there after having been gone for 2 decades?
A fascinating tale about a young woman trying to survive in a magical, dangerous world.
You might already know, that if you ask about my favorite author, I will say "Stephen King". And this book onesmore confirms that notion. I fell in love with Holly Gibney during the reading of "Mr. Mercedes" and kept falling with every story she appeared in since.
This time Holly has to cope with the death of her mother and the difficulties the world faces through Covid 19. In this trying time a desparate mother reaches out to her because her daughter has disappeared. What Holly finds during her investigation is darker and more sinister than she ever could have imagined....
The genre of literary re-telling may have gotten a bit out of hand in recent years, but here's a beautiful, daring and unapologetic exception that forces its reader to view Huck's adventures for what they were from the runaway slave Jim's perspective: Episodes of sheer terror, where mortal danger lurks in the smallest things, like a wrong turn of phrase.
A powerful and important book!
Torn families, forbidden love, outstanding loyalty - truly adventurous!
A spectacular cast of characters, trying to survive in a world full of gods. I need the sequel, like, now.
I loved every single second of this book and I regret not having read it sooner...

I instantly fell in love with Shatter Me
A clever and dark book about a woman who murdered six people ? and got away with it.
The main character is awful, but I loved Grace. She is a likeable serial killer with just one thing on her mind: revenge.
The incredible sequel to "Fourth Wing"!
I couldn't put it down, I just HAD TO know what would happen next and let me tell you, I didn't expect THAT to happen...
Amazing characters and a gripping story that kept me at the edge of my seat.
The story is well-written and engaging, with an unexpected twist. Overall a very thrilling read!
Amazing!
A wonderfully honest and realistic story about life and love.
This much lauded debut is at times ponderous, at times highly entertaining. It is part psychological thriller, part chronicle of a debauched, wasted youth.

A group of smart, eccentric misfits at an elite New England college discover a way of thinking and living that is far removed from their modern day surroundings under the influence of a charismatic classics professor.

When they cross the border of normal morality, they go from obsession to corruption, betrayal, and eventually to evil...

A wonderfully crafted and beautifully written story about a civil war that has more or less faded in the fogs of history.
The Island of Missing Trees is about generational trauma, conflict, migration, and - of course - love. The way nature is woven into the story is just superb!
In many ways an eye-opening and touching novel.
From the very first page I was completely gripped by Rebecca Kuang´s latest novel which I would describe as psychological horror .
Yellowface is a dark story about the brutal publishing industry, about cultural appropriation and about loneliness. Almost all of the characters are unlikeable, but in this case, it did not bother me at all. I love narratives in which the narrator messes with the mind of the reader.
Rebecca Kuang knows how to write books that you just want to finish in one sitting!
I loved everything about this book; the world, the characters, the vampires, the fights and of course the story itself. The plottwist in the last few chapter totally knocked me off my feet. I didn't see that one coming at all and it broke my heart.
We have entered into a tunnel and there is no going back, she says, we just need to keep going and going until we reach the light on the other side.

Light - there is so little of it in Prophet Song´. Darkness looms over these pages; it is an omnipresent theme from the very first paragraph on. This is an absolutely terrifying novel. I am going to be thinking about Prophet Song´ for a long time.
Ishiguro is back and has done it again. A brilliant novel about AI, the sun and what it means to be human.
